German Government initiates legislative changes in the field of Sale of Goods and the Building Law

On March 2, 2016 the German Government initiated changes in the field of Sale of Goods and the Building Law.

Sale of Goods:
At present, there are certain gaps in the German law on Sale of Goods in B2B-situations. If a defective product has been integrated into an other product, the buyer often experiences that he cannot claim the costs of dis-integration and re-assembly. This shall be changed.

Building law:
The German Civil Code shall be amended by particular provisions on build-ing contracts and on building contracts for consumers, e.g. with a view to price changes and the cancellation for good cause.

We will further report on the ongoing parliamentary process.
